Rules & Regulations

The following are the rules and regulations that govern the care and use of Perla Cemetery. These policies are intended to preserve the dignity, appearance, and safety of the grounds.

• Visiting hours: The cemetery is open from dawn until dusk.
• Lot purchase fees: Prices for graves and lots are determined by the Perla Cemetery Board.
• Repairs and upkeep: The Perla Cemetery Association has the authority to repair or correct any grave marker, monument, or burial site that becomes unsafe or is in disrepair.
• Single burial per grave: Burials of two people in the same grave or lot are permitted only after planning and approval by the Perla Cemetery Board.
• Permanent markers: All graves must have a permanent marker placed within two years of interment.
• Monument and marker foundations: Monuments and markers must be installed on foundations of sufficient depth and width to ensure stability. Specific foundation dimensions and installation requirements must be coordinated with the cemetery board or authorized representative prior to placement.
• Decorations and floral displays: For maintenance and safety, cemetery staff may remove bouquets, decorative items, and holders that interfere with grounds care. Exceptions for certain holidays may be made at the board's discretion.
• Prohibited structures and plantings: No curbs, copings, fences, railings, trellises, or hedges may be constructed or planted on cemetery lots without prior approval.
• Enforcement of aesthetics: The cemetery board reserves the right to require removal of items or landscaping that conflict with the cemetery's appearance or maintenance needs.
• Lot upkeep: Lot owners are responsible for removing rubbish and maintaining their plots in accordance with cemetery rules.
• Commercial work: Gardeners, florists, and contractors must have permission from the cemetery board to perform work on cemetery lots.
• Speed limit: Speed limit (typically 3 mph) must be observed on cemetery roads for the safety of visitors and staff.
• Funeral coordination: All funerals must be conducted through a licensed funeral director and coordinated with cemetery staff.
• Violations: The Perla Cemetery Board enforces these rules; persons who damage cemetery property or violate regulations may be reported to law enforcement and subject to prosecution.
